This 4,872 sq. ft. home in Jubilee Hills was designed for a family returning to India after nearly two decades in the US, with a clear intent to feel rooted again. Starting from a bare shell gave us the freedom to shape every layer, beginning with a tactile mix of tandur, Kota and Jaisalmer stone laid in subtle patterns and textures across the home. The living space is anchored by a handcrafted wooden swing with detailed brass chains, opening into a daybed nook framed by wooden columns, creating a space that feels both familiar and calm. This material language continues into the dining, where a custom solid wood table sits alongside a crockery unit finished in cane, fluted glass and wood.
The puja room became one of the most personal spaces, finished with a hand applied jaju texture that gives it a soft, kumkum like depth. The kitchen introduces a muted sage green palette with wooden and glass inserts, keeping it fresh yet connected to the overall tone of the home. A long corridor with wooden beams, stone inlays and arched frames leads to an antique Ganesha, turning a simple passage into a quiet focal experience. The private spaces are softer and more personal, from the daughter’s room with yellow leather finished tandur flooring to fabric sandwiched glass wardrobe shutters and a curved reading nook, to the master bedroom with deeper tones and a custom carved teak bed. While the home office is kept minimal and clean. The overall design plays with material, texture and memory, coming together as a home that feels warm, lived-in and deeply connected to its roots.
A carefully curated journey from first site visit to final execution.
